Land marks in the History and development of
SPRING VALLEY SCHOOL

 

The school came into existence in 1992. The name due to the spring flowing by the side of the valley.

Concerted efforts of the dynamic Leaders of REC spectra ,  Dr. S. Unnikrishna Pillai  [then Principal , CREC  & Chairman SPECTRA] Dr A.C Mathai , Dr. M.P. Chandrasekharan , Dr. N .Prabhakaran, Dr. George Varghese and Dr. K Vincent Paul had made it possible to construct the two new buildings.

Dr. S. Unnikrishna Pillai was the Chairman Dr. A.C Mathai and Dr M P Chandrasekharan President and Vice President of the school Managing Committee respectively. The other office bearers were. Dr. N Prabhakaran , Manager cum Correspondent , Dr .George  Varghese , Joint Secretary cum Treasurer , Dr. K. Vincent Paul Chairman , building committee .Mr .J.Jayakumar and Dr. T.M . Madhavan Pillai did all design and drawing of the required buildings.

At the beginning – during 1992-93 , there were 149 students on roll. Mr .Mohan Das , Retired Principal , Kendriya Vidyalaya Kozhikode was the first Head Master. After his tenure Mr. K.O Madhavan Nambiar took over the charge. The school was shifted to the picturesque Valley in 1993. When Mr.K.O Madhavan Nambiar left in the same year , Smt. Prema Arangaden was appointed at the helm of affairs. The foundation stone for the present building was laid by Dr.S. Unnikrishna Pillai on 24.12.1993. Mrs. Kaumudi Raghavan , Retd Teacher , K.V. joined as staff advisor in 1994. The  school was accorded sanction for provisional affiliation for middle class.

The first batch of 16 students appeared for All India Secondary School Examination in March 1997.

Construction of additional floors of the new block for Library , Computer Center,Physics and Biology Labs was completed  and Dr.M.P Chandrasekharan Principal R.E.C inaugurated the Lab Complex in February 1999.

School presented the first batch of 17 students for AISSCE in March 1999.

In 1999-2000 , Dr. T. P Somasundaram & Dr. Abraham T Mathew took charge as President & Vice President of the Managing Committee . Dr. N. Ramachandran  continued as Manager Cum Correspondent  & Mr. P. Ananthakrishnan took charge as the Joint Secretary cum Treasurer.

On the 1st of June 2001, Prof.K.M.Unnikrishnan Nambeesan Retd Prof. and Head , Department of Chemistry , St. Josephs’ college Devagiri joined the school as the Principal and still continuing as Senior Principal.

The second floor of the school building was constructed in 2006.

The office bearers of the Managing Committee consisted of Dr.N.Ramachandran , President , Dr. M.V.L.R. Anjaneyula vice President , Mr. P .Ananthakrishnan Manager cum correspondent and Mr.K.S Sureshkumar the Treasurer and the present members of the Managing Committee are Dr. Abraham T Mathew , President , Dr. M.V.L.R. Anjaneyula vice President, Dr. K. Chandrasekharan Manager Cum Correspondent, & Mr. P .Ananthakrishnan Joint Secretary and Treasurer. The school has a very vibrant PTA which extends every support in all activities.

In curricular as well as extra – curricular activities the students have excelled and brought many laurels in inter school and state level competitions
